A TECHNOLOGICAL PROJECT OF EXTRAORDINARY EFFICIENCY

BASE PRINCIPLE

Famar thermo-fireplaces has been projected thinking that during the wood combustion, most part of the heat quantity is contained in the fumes.

WHAT IT USES

Famar thermo-fireplaces synergically exploits the three ways for heat transfer: irradiation, conduction and convection. This happens because the particular exchanger conformation (projected and patented by Famar) recovers all the heat from the fumes, differently from the normal thermo-fireplace found in the market.

BRILLIANT EFFICIENCY OF FAMAR’S HEAT EXCHANGER

Famar’s exchanger, dimensioned and optimised at the maximum level, has exclusive peculiarities which avoids the deposit of combustion residuals (creosote and others) on cold surfaces, typical problem of all the water or wooden biomass burning thermo-fireplaces.

It is well-known that this residual bed stops the heat exchange of 5% for every millimetre of deposited residual, making the combustion slower; it brings down the thermic efficiency and it is difficult to eliminate. Famar has brilliantly solved this limit.

The structure of Famar’s exchanger is a DRY CHAMBER (patented system) with finning welded together with electric riveting at the centre of the surface of contact, fixed and not removable. The internal fumes passage inside the chamber makes it incandescent and makes it go beyond the lysis temperature of the unburnt particles and of the distillates, which burn further, with a consequent production of new energy and optimization of the consumptions. Moreover, the fumes are forced to move, inhaled by the chimney; they pass through the pipes with a vertical movement getting rid of the dusts and the residuals of the combustion.

During the ignition phase, the hot fumes break free during the combustion, they go above towards the upper part of the chamber where they are invested by secondary air and then directly go to the chimney. When the pipe is warm, the bypass valve gets into action to close the direct fumes intake from the chimney and to convey the same combustion fumes inside the horizontal channels of the exchanger.


During this section, the inhaled fumes meet the finning of proper measures (40×450 mm), welded at the centre and they are forced to whirl, making it possible to exchange energy through contact and convection (adduction). The two dry chamber superior and inferior pipes (with no-removable surfaces) have the great advantage of avoiding the unburnt deposits, which in contact with the humidity would become creosote and pitch, difficult to remove.

Famar’s exchanger, indeed, for its particular conformation and projection, warms up until incandescence, going beyond the lysis temperature of these particles with the results of breaking free further energy, optimizing the costs and lowering the temperature of the fumes outlet from the pipes, apart from behaving as a cyclonic separator. The combustion in Famar’s thermo-fireplaces fully respects the laws of physics, that is the flame propagates from the bottom to the top (and not the contrary), making it possible, differently from the other products in the market, of burning the woods of big dimension, resinous and not perfectly dry.

MORE ENERGY FROM THE UNBURNT AND PITCH COMBUSTION



The particular conformation of Famar’s exchanger allows the combustion of unburnt particles and of pitch which are deposited in the exchanger itself. When it burns, this wood combustion deposits produce further energy which transforms into dust easily to remove, which remains in the pipes and cannot be removed by the fumes. Indeed, the cleaning is possible with a common hairdryer even with burning fire. For this principle, the fumes are introduced in the atmosphere at a temperature which is lower in comparison to any other traditional thermo-fireplaces or air or open fireplace; the fumes are free from polluting substances. In conclusion, cleaner fumes, cleaner pipes and fireplace, cleaner environment, fine dust emissions and residuals inferior to the minimal values provided for by the current applicable law.

EFFICIENCY ALWAYS AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS

For all its life, the thermo-fireplace’s efficiency is constant because in the exchanger there are no deposition of creosote or unburnt residuals, material which would block the heat transfer into the water. Moreover, the fine dust emissions are reduced at the minimum: the carbon monoxide is inferior to the 0.03 %.

Famar’s thermo-fireplaces have a shut-off damper (1) which, shut during the ignition phase, allows to the fumes to go directly into the pipes, speeding up the heating process for an optimal draught. Once the pipe is sufficiently warm, the shutter has to be closed pushing the knob (2) until the end of it in order to guarantee a further recovery of energy by mean of the passage through the exchanger (3).

EASY CLEANING OF THE EXCHANGER

In order to clean the exchanger, it is sufficient, a couple of times during the year, even with burning fire:

  1. Remove with a palette knife the dust and the possible little deposits
  2. Use the provided swab through every pipe of the exchanger, pushing dust residuals through the combustion chamber.
  3. Use a simple hairdryer to remove the last residuals and push into the combustion chamber what is left.
